COLLECTORS CLUBCollectors Club is designed to invite viewers to begin their own collections while educating them along the way. It achieves this by first telling the viewer statistics about collecting, motivations for collecting, and exposing then to different kinds of collections. This is done through characters that are designed to be vessels for the viewer. As the viewer learns about the characters and identifies with them, it guides the viewer into the next part: merchandising.
The Collectors Club exhibit presents several different kinds of collectible character merchandise, some for display only, but others that are free to take. As the viewer is invited to take merchandise, they are also educated about the importance of merchandising when it comes to creative media. The free merchandise is designed to encourage viewers to put it towards a collection of their own and engage in the consumption of merchandising. As the viewer leaves the exhibit, they should depart with the feeling of wanting to start their own collection or to build onto their existing collection. In the end, they should be more aware of the importance of collectible items. |
