PATTERN PORTFOLIOInspired by sewing patterns from the 80s, Pattern Portfolio is designed to present a portfolio of my work in a way that describes something about myself. As someone who loves fashion, collects old sewing patterns, and sews them, the reasoning for me presenting my work in this manner is apparent. This portfolio was created as something more personal, casual, and fun than a traditional portfolio. This is seen in the cheeky comments across the work and the lists of my favorite things displayed alongside information relevant to the way I work.
The front of the portfolio displays a self portrait, drawn in the style of illustrated pattern models, as well as other information displayed in a manner similar to that of sewing patterns. On the back, I include information about myself, presented in a way designed to look similar to the sizing information on the back of patterns. Inside the portfolio is a pattern that is 1/3 to scale of a real sewing pattern, so it can be sewn to create a doll-sized button up. On these pieces are examples of my work, most of which are from 2020. These elements all come together to form a unique presentation and give insight into the designer. |
