STINK BUG APPRECIATIONI know stink bugs are usually seen as pests, but they're my favorite bugs. It may sound lame, but this stems from my time spent in isolation over the pandemic. When I was locked up alone inside, some stink bugs managed to make their way into my apartment, and we coexisted in my apartment together until the end of their natural life (much to my sadness). In a time where I didn't have company, they kept me company. They would disappear into unknown places in my apartment, making random appearances by landing next to me.
While the usual brown stink bugs, which are native to my area, are my favorite, I decided to create this sculpture based on the Man-Faced Stink Bug. This choice was made simply because I thought it would be more visually interesting for this sculpture. The sculpture is made from steel rods, welded together with fabric stretched over it. The fabric was then painted with acrylic paint. |
